Effectiveness of office-based vergence/accommodative therapy with movement for accommodative dysfunction in concussion-related convergence insufficiency: a secondary analysis of the CONCUSS randomised clinical trial

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of office-based vergence/accommodative therapy with movement (OBVAM) for improving visual accommodative function in individuals aged 11-25 with concussion-related convergence insufficiency and coexisting accommodative disorders. The study found that immediate OBVAM significantly enhanced accommodative amplitude and facility compared to delayed treatment, suggesting that timely intervention can accelerate recovery and facilitate a quicker return to normal activities. Overall, the results indicate that early therapy is beneficial for individuals experiencing persistent symptoms following a concussion.
