Blood Flow Restriction Training After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to systematically evaluate the effects of blood flow restriction (BFR) training on lower limb function, quadriceps strength, and knee pain in patients following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). The meta-analysis of nine randomized controlled trials indicated that BFR training significantly improved quadriceps strength and certain functional outcomes, while its impact on pain relief and joint mobility was not significant. The study suggests that BFR training is a feasible rehabilitation modality post-ACLR, but further research is needed to assess its long-term benefits and safety.
