Influences of Tibial Plateau Morphology on JLCA Change, Clinical Outcomes and Cartilage Regeneration After Medial Opening Wedge High Tibial Osteotomy

Listen to this summary

This study aimed to determine whether variations in proximal tibial plateau morphology influence radiographic changes, clinical outcomes, and cartilage regeneration following medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO) in patients with medial compartment osteoarthritis. The findings indicated that while there were some differences in joint line convergence angle (JLCA) changes among different morphology groups, these variations did not significantly impact clinical outcomes or cartilage regeneration post-surgery. Overall, the authors concluded that tibial plateau morphology does not play a critical role in the effectiveness of MOWHTO.
