Outcomes After Operative Versus Nonoperative Management of Type III to V Acromioclavicular Joint Dislocations: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to determine the outcomes of operative versus nonoperative management for Rockwood type III to V acromioclavicular joint dislocations through a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. They found that while early patient-reported outcome measures favored nonoperative treatment, both management strategies yielded comparable results in terms of long-term outcomes and satisfaction rates. Ultimately, nonoperative management was shown to be as effective as operative treatment for these types of dislocations.
