Outcome of cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy continued to viability: Data from the International CSEP Registry

Listen to this summary

This study aims to characterize the outcomes of cesarean scar ectopic pregnancies managed expectantly and to identify ultrasound findings associated with the need for peripartum hysterectomy. Analyzing data from 115 viable cases, the authors found that expectant management poses significant risks, including a 67% live birth rate but a high incidence of peripartum hysterectomy, particularly in cases with a residual myometrial thickness of less than 2.5 mm and enhanced subplacental vascularity. These results highlight the necessity of early ultrasound evaluations to identify high-risk pregnancies and improve management strategies.
