Open Boari Flap Teaching Simulation using a Porcine Model

The authors aimed to address the lack of training opportunities for OB/GYN trainees in performing ureteral reimplantation and Boari flap creation, which are critical skills due to the serious nature of ureteral injuries during gynecologic surgery. They developed a high-fidelity simulation model using porcine bladders and assessed its effectiveness through pre- and post-simulation questionnaires, finding that participants reported increased confidence and familiarity with the procedure. This simulation model is proposed as a valuable addition to OB/GYN training programs to enhance technical skills in complex ureteral repairs.
