Soluble BCMA Defines Spatial Phenotypes and Prognosis in Newly Diagnosed Multiple Myeloma

The authors aimed to investigate how soluble BCMA (sBCMA) levels correlate with tumor burden and prognosis in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM) patients. By analyzing various metrics including bone marrow plasma cell percentage and imaging-defined tumor volumes, they identified four distinct patient phenotypes, revealing that elevated sBCMA levels are a stronger predictor of early treatment failure than tumor volume alone. This multimodal classification framework enhances risk stratification and understanding of MM outcomes based on the interplay between tumor volume and sBCMA levels.
