Healthy Lifestyle, Genetic Susceptibility and Risk of Kidney Stone Disease in the UK Biobank: A Prospective Cohort Study

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to investigate the relationship between modifiable lifestyle factors and the risk of kidney stone disease (KSD), as well as how genetic susceptibility influences this association. Their findings indicate that a healthy lifestyle significantly reduces the risk of KSD, and while no multiplicative interaction was found, an additive interaction suggests that individuals with an unfavorable lifestyle and high genetic risk have a markedly increased risk of developing KSD.
