Development and validation of a model combining bowel ultrasound and inflammatory biomarkers for evaluating disease activity in ulcerative colitis: a dual centre retrospective study

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to develop and validate a model that combines bowel ultrasound and inflammatory biomarkers to assess disease activity in patients with ulcerative colitis. Their study demonstrated that specific ultrasound parameters and biomarkers could effectively predict disease activity, achieving a high diagnostic accuracy in both the derivation and external validation cohorts. The resulting nomogram offers a clinically practical tool for noninvasive patient management.
