Photography-based Retinal Vasculometry and Visual Field Progression in Primary Open Angle Glaucoma

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to determine whether retinal vasculometry features derived from baseline fundus photographs are predictive of longitudinal visual field changes in glaucoma suspects and patients with primary open-angle glaucoma. Their analysis of 1,595 eyes revealed significant associations between specific vasculometry metrics, such as venous and arterial fractal dimensions and tortuosity, and the rate of visual field deterioration. These findings suggest that retinal vascular characteristics may serve as potential prognostic markers, warranting further validation for clinical application.
