Predictors of Vision Loss and Surgical Intervention in Stevens-Johnson Syndrome: A Multicenter Nationwide Cohort Study

The authors aimed to identify clinical predictors of surgical intervention and vision loss in patients with chronic Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS). Their multicenter study found that advanced disease presentations, such as limbal stem cell deficiency and conjunctivalization, were significant predictors for surgery, while factors like chronicity of the disease and the use of systemic therapies were associated with progressive vision loss. The findings highlight the importance of early referral and standardized care to improve patient outcomes.
