Visual performance of a refractive extended depth of field intraocular lens in monovision and emmetropic settings

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to compare the visual performance, low-contrast visual acuity, stereopsis, and patient-reported outcomes of a refractive Extended Depth of Field intraocular lens (IOL) when implanted in either a mini-monovision or emmetropic setting. The study found that both strategies provided excellent distance and intermediate vision, but the emmetropic group exhibited better low-contrast visual acuity, while the mini-monovision group showed slightly increased glare and reduced near spectacle dependence. Overall, both approaches resulted in high patient satisfaction and preserved stereopsis.
