Association between the first post-resuscitation partial pressure of arterial carbon dioxide and neurologic outcomes in children with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: a multicenter retrospective cohort study

The authors aimed to investigate the association between the first post-resuscitation partial pressure of arterial carbon dioxide (PaCO₂) and 30-day neurologic outcomes in children who experienced out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). Their multicenter retrospective study found no clear evidence that either hypocapnia or hypercapnia was independently associated with favorable neurologic outcomes or 30-day survival. Despite the lack of significant findings, the study provides insights into the prognostic significance of PaCO₂ levels in this pediatric population.
