Ketamine for Analgosedation in Mechanically Ventilated Adults: A Double-Blind Randomized Trial

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of low-dose ketamine infusion as an adjunct for analgosedation in mechanically ventilated adults in the ICU. The results indicated that ketamine infusion was associated with a significant reduction in hourly opioid requirements compared to placebo, while showing no differences in secondary outcomes such as delirium or adverse events. The authors suggest that further larger trials are needed to explore its impact on other patient-centered outcomes.
