Pulmonary Hypertension and Nissen Fundoplication in Premature Infants with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia

This study aimed to assess the impact of pulmonary hypertension (PHTN) and Nissen fundoplication on clinical outcomes in premature infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). The findings revealed that infants with PHTN who underwent Nissen fundoplication experienced significantly delayed weaning from respiratory support compared to those without PHTN or Nissen, indicating that PHTN adversely affects respiratory recovery in this population. Ultimately, the study concluded that Nissen fundoplication did not facilitate earlier respiratory recovery in infants with severe BPD.
