Cardiac biomarkers in twin pregnancies with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy: limited predictive value and a modest adjunctive role

This study investigates the predictive performance and diagnostic utility of cardiac biomarkers (BNP, NT-proBNP, and hs-cTnT) in twin pregnancies affected by hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP). The authors found that while these biomarkers were elevated in HDP cases, their overall predictive value was limited, with moderate sensitivity and specificity at a pragmatic cutoff. The findings suggest that although cardiac biomarkers can indicate the presence of HDP, they may not be clinically useful for predicting its onset.
