Preoperative Versus Perioperative Antibiotic Administration for Examination-Indicated Cerclage

The authors aimed to determine whether preoperative or perioperative antibiotic administration affects the latency period from examination-indicated cerclage to delivery. Their retrospective cohort study found that while unadjusted median latency was longer with preoperative antibiotics, adjusted analyses revealed no significant difference between the two groups. The findings suggest a need for further prospective studies to identify the most effective antibiotic regimen for optimizing gestational latency in this context.
