Term Delivery After Late-Preterm Antenatal Steroid Administration in U.S. Hospitals

The authors aimed to quantify the proportion of individuals who receive late-preterm steroids and subsequently deliver at term, using data from 519 hospitals. They found that 28.8% of women exposed to late-preterm betamethasone delivered at term, indicating significant variability in hospital practices regarding late-preterm steroid administration. This study underscores the necessity for improved prediction methods for preterm birth timing and guidelines for the optimal use of late-preterm steroids.
