Understanding chronic pelvic pain in women survivors of sexual violence: a qualitative study

This qualitative study aims to explore how women survivors of sexual violence understand and make meaning of their chronic pelvic pain (CPP), as well as the implications for clinical practice. Through interviews with ten participants, the authors identify themes related to healthcare interactions, the need for holistic treatment approaches, and women's active roles in reclaiming their narratives. The findings highlight the importance of compassionate, integrated care that acknowledges the complex biopsychosocial factors influencing both CPP and the experiences of sexual violence survivors.
