Factors influencing implementation of decarbonisation actions in general practice: longitudinal multi-centre case-study

The authors investigate the institutional, organizational, and professional factors that affect the implementation of decarbonisation initiatives in general practice as the NHS aims for net zero by 2040. Through a longitudinal qualitative case study involving 12 practices in England, they identify key themes influencing progress, such as systemic barriers and the importance of aligning actions with NHS priorities. The findings suggest that integrating decarbonisation efforts into routine work and providing coordinated support at the national level are crucial for achieving sustained change.
