Stereotactic Arrhythmia Radioablation of Recurrent Ventricular Tachycardia in Structural Heart Disease: Results of the Aborted STAR-VT-2020 Randomized Trial

Listen to this summary

The STAR-VT-2020 randomized trial aimed to compare the efficacy of stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation (STAR) versus catheter ablation (CA) in treating recurrent ventricular tachycardia (VT) in patients with structural heart disease after previous CA failures. The results indicated a nonsignificantly higher risk of VT recurrence and a significantly higher risk of repeated CA in the STAR group compared to the CA group. However, due to the small sample size and methodological limitations, the authors suggest that these findings are exploratory and call for larger, more rigorously designed studies.
