Subcutaneous Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator Therapy in Women
Listen to this summary
This study aimed to evaluate sex-related differences in outcomes among recipients of subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (S-ICDs), focusing on baseline characteristics, appropriate shocks, complications, reinterventions, and mortality. The findings revealed that women had a lower risk of appropriate shocks and all-cause mortality compared to men, but experienced a distinct complication profile, including higher rates of chronic pain and lead dislodgment. These results underscore the importance of considering sex-specific factors in S-ICD selection and management.
