Validation of an Essentials in Minimally Invasive Gynecology Running Stitch Task Checklist

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to develop and evaluate a checklist assessment to predict competency in the Running Stitch task of the Essentials in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (EMIGS) certification exam. Their findings indicated that while the checklist scores correlated moderately with passing scores, they tended to overrate performance, highlighting the need for improved metrics in evaluating surgical skills for residency preparation. Additionally, factors such as laparoscopic case numbers and residency year were found to correlate with passing scores.
