Initial vascular access for neonatal resuscitation: a systematic review

The authors aimed to evaluate the evidence regarding various emergency vascular access methods used during neonatal resuscitation, particularly focusing on their effectiveness and safety. They found that while umbilical vein catheters (UVC) and intraosseous (IO) devices are feasible options, there is insufficient evidence comparing their outcomes, and most complications were associated with IO devices. The study highlights the need for further research due to the low certainty of the existing evidence and the limitations of the included studies.
