Association of Intraoperative Narrow Pulse Pressure during Normotension with Postoperative Acute Kidney Injury: A Retrospective Cohort Analysis
Listen to this summary
The authors aimed to investigate the relationship between intraoperative narrow pulse pressure and the incidence of postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgeries. Their findings indicate that narrow pulse pressure, even in the presence of normal mean arterial pressure, is independently associated with an increased risk of AKI, suggesting that relying solely on mean arterial pressure may overlook critical low-flow states that contribute to kidney injury.
