Left ventricular recovery and outcomes in patients with a durable left ventricular assist device: the EUROMACS registry

This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence, predictors, and clinical impact of left ventricular (LV) recovery following left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation using data from the EUROMACS registry. The findings indicate that LV recovery predominantly occurs within the first year post-implantation and is linked to improved clinical outcomes, with specific factors such as renin-angiotensin system inhibitor use enhancing the likelihood of recovery. The research highlights the importance of LV recovery in predicting long-term mortality and major adverse cardiovascular events.
