Performance of a Flexible Versus Rigid Fetoscope in the Simulated Management of Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to evaluate the feasibility and performance of a flexible fetoscope (FF) compared to a rigid fetoscope (RF) in the simulated management of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) with anterior placentation. The study found no significant differences in key outcomes such as visualization of the recipient cord insertion and completeness of the Solomonization procedure, although the FF demonstrated a larger equatorial deviation area and a more anterior trajectory. These results suggest that flexible fetoscopy is a viable option for TTTS surgery, warranting further training and clinical exploration.
