Functional anti-preS1 antibody responses associated with viral control in chronic hepatitis B

Listen to this summary

The authors investigate the serological and functional significance of preS1 antigen and anti-preS1 IgG in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) to understand their roles in viral control. They find that while preS1 antigen levels correlate with HBV replication, high levels of anti-preS1 IgG are associated with effective viral neutralization and sustained virological suppression after therapy withdrawal, indicating its potential as a marker for host immune control in CHB.
