Efficacy of saline tract sealing after CT-Guided lung biopsy: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to evaluate the efficacy of saline tract sealing in reducing the incidence of pneumothorax and the need for chest tube placement following CT-guided lung biopsy. Their systematic review and meta-analysis of seven studies, involving 1,455 patients, found that saline tract instillation significantly decreased both pneumothorax rates and chest tube placements compared to usual care. These findings suggest that saline tract sealing is an effective technique to enhance patient outcomes in lung biopsy procedures.
