Cervical subcutaneous fat index and lordosis in intervertebral disc degeneration: is there a link?

Listen to this summary

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between cervical intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), cervical lordosis angle (CL), and posterior subcutaneous fat index (SFI) in adults with neck pain. The findings indicated no significant associations between SFI, CL, and IVDD, although a notable degeneration was observed at the C6-7 level in the normal lordosis group. The authors conclude that cervical disc degeneration is multifactorial and call for larger prospective studies to further explore these relationships.
