Musculoskeletal health among adults with cerebral palsy: A systematic review

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to assess the burden and prognostic factors for musculoskeletal disorders, including osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, in adults with cerebral palsy (CP), as well as the effectiveness of monitoring protocols and interventions for managing these conditions. Their systematic review found that adults with CP have a higher prevalence of these disorders compared to those without CP, particularly among females and individuals with more severe motor impairments. However, the evidence regarding prognostic factors and the effectiveness of management strategies is limited, highlighting the need for further research to better address musculoskeletal health in this population.
