This paper aims to provide an updated description of cerebral palsy (CP) by integrating insights from various stakeholders, including individuals with lived experience, families, and professionals. The authors explore how recent advancements in genetics, inflammation research, and neurophysiology have enhanced the understanding of CP, while also addressing the evolving social perspectives that challenge ableist assumptions. The updated framework is intended to inform clinical practice, research, and policy to improve care and inclusion for individuals with CP throughout their lives.
