Rural-Urban Variability in Home and Community-Based Service Use Among Veterans

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to investigate the differences in home and community-based service (HCBS) use between rural and urban Veterans enrolled in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and to identify variations at the facility level. The study found that rural Veterans were less likely to use HCBS compared to their urban counterparts, with an adjusted risk ratio of 0.92, although significant variability in HCBS use existed across different facilities, with some rural Veterans receiving services at rates comparable to urban Veterans.
