Impact of non-enteric-coated pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (NEPERT) on pain in patients with chronic pancreatitis: a double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled, randomised trial

The authors aimed to evaluate the effect of non-enteric-coated pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (NEPERT) on pain in patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP) through a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. The study found no significant differences in pain improvement between the NEPERT and placebo groups at both 12 and 24 weeks, although a higher proportion of participants in the NEPERT group reported painful days at 12 weeks. Overall, NEPERT did not demonstrate efficacy in reducing pain compared to placebo in this patient population.
