Will Artificial Intelligence Replace Me? Automation Susceptibility of Emergency Physician Tasks

The authors aim to assess the automation susceptibility of emergency physician tasks by applying Autor's labor economics task framework and mapping current AI capabilities to these tasks. They found that a significant portion of tasks, particularly routine cognitive ones, are prime candidates for AI replacement, while nonroutine abstract tasks are more likely to be augmented by AI. This analysis highlights the need for ongoing evaluation of AI's impact on emergency medicine workflows and workforce preparation.
