The authors aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of copper intrauterine devices (Cu-IUDs) that were inserted immediately postpartum and later found to be in a rotated position. In their study of 73 asymptomatic women with rotated Cu-IUDs, they found that while there were no pregnancies and rare expulsions, a significant number experienced partial uterine perforation, leading to a high discontinuation rate of the device.
