Comparing niraparib versus platinum-taxane doublet chemotherapy as neoadjuvant treatment in patients with newly diagnosed homologous recombination-deficient stage III/IV ovarian cancer: Findings from cohort C of the OPAL phase 2 trial

This study aimed to compare the efficacy of niraparib, a PARP inhibitor, versus standard platinum-taxane chemotherapy as neoadjuvant treatment for patients with newly diagnosed homologous recombination-deficient stage III/IV ovarian cancer. The results showed that the overall response rate before interval debulking surgery was significantly lower with niraparib (31.6%) compared to platinum-taxane (70.6%), leading to the early closure of the trial for futility. The safety profiles of both treatments were consistent with previous studies, with no fatal serious adverse events reported.
