Parenchyma-sparing pancreatectomy for solid pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas: A propensity-matched analysis

The authors aimed to compare the perioperative and long-term outcomes of parenchyma-sparing pancreatectomy versus conventional resection for solid pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas. Their findings indicate that while parenchyma-sparing pancreatectomy is associated with reduced blood loss, shorter operative time, and shorter hospital stays, it also has a higher overall complication rate, particularly due to postoperative pancreatic fistula. Importantly, both surgical approaches demonstrated equivalent long-term recurrence-free survival, suggesting that parenchyma-sparing techniques may be a viable option for selected patients.
