An ABC approach for preoperative staging in perihilar cholangiocarcinoma An international multicenter cohort study

This study aimed to develop an ABC system for preoperative staging of patients with perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (pCCA) to better predict surgical outcomes and recurrence rates. The authors identified independent prognostic factors such as tumor size, CA19-9 levels, and WHO performance status, demonstrating that higher ABC scores correlate with significantly increased risks of mortality and recurrence. The findings suggest caution in offering surgical resection to patients with high ABC scores, indicating a need for careful patient selection.
