Incidence and remission of endometriosis in Germany based on prevalence data from 35 million patients from the statutory health insurance

Listen to this summary

This study aimed to estimate the incidence and remission rates of endometriosis among German women from 2012 to 2022, utilizing data from over 35 million patients insured by statutory health insurance. The authors employed the Illness-Death Model and bootstrapping techniques to determine a median incidence rate of approximately 1.73 per 1,000 person-years at age 32, and a remission rate peaking at about 70.04% by age 52. This research is significant as it provides the first estimates of remission rates for endometriosis in Germany, contributing to a better understanding of the disease's impact.
