Body roundness index and a body shape index and their associations with menopausal symptoms: a comparative cross-sectional study

Listen to this summary

This study aimed to investigate the associations between the Body Roundness Index (BRI) and A Body Shape Index (ABSI) with menopausal symptom severity in perimenopausal and menopausal women, comparing these indices to the traditional Body Mass Index (BMI). The findings revealed that both BRI and ABSI were significantly associated with menopausal symptom burden, with ABSI showing the strongest correlation, suggesting that central adiposity measures may provide additional clinical insights beyond BMI. The authors call for prospective studies to further explore the causality of these associations.
