Impact of preoperative frailty assessment on peri-operative complications and cancer related outcomes in advanced stage endometrial cancer

Listen to this summary

This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between preoperative frailty, as measured by the modified frailty index, and postoperative complications in patients with advanced-stage endometrial cancer undergoing hysterectomy. The findings indicated that frailty did not correlate with increased complication rates or poorer survival outcomes, suggesting that the minimally invasive surgical approach may mitigate the negative effects of frailty. However, the authors acknowledge the limitations of their small sample size and call for larger, multi-institutional studies to further explore this issue.
