Consistency of Ictal Epileptogenic Foci in Children With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex and Its Clinical Predictors

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to assess the consistency of ictal epileptogenic foci over time in children with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and to evaluate the concordance between interictal and ictal epileptiform abnormalities. They found that ictal foci were consistent in only 25% of patients, with a high rate of discordance between interictal and ictal foci, suggesting that the epileptogenic networks in TSC may evolve over time. These findings have significant implications for presurgical evaluations and understanding surgical outcomes in TSC patients.
