Correlation of patient reported outcomes and physical exam screening for pelvic floor dysfunction: An opportunity for improved quality of life during chemoradiotherapy for cervical cancer

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to define the prevalence and time course of pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) in cervical cancer patients undergoing chemoradiotherapy (CRT). They found that 50% of patients had PFD at baseline, which improved to 25% by follow-up, and identified that the EORTC QLQ-CX24 patient-reported outcome measure correlated well with physical exam findings, suggesting its potential as a monitoring tool for PFD. The study highlights the need for further research on early intervention strategies for patients with pre-existing PFD.
