Two Perioperative Ketorolac Dosing Regimens After Cesarean Delivery and Opioid Use: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to determine whether an initial intravenous loading dose of 60 mg of ketorolac, compared to 30 mg, would reduce postoperative opioid requirements after cesarean delivery. The study found that the higher dose resulted in lower opioid consumption, delayed the time to first opioid administration, and reduced pain scores without increasing adverse effects. These findings suggest a potential benefit of a higher ketorolac dose, although the clinical significance remains to be fully established.
