Antiphospholipid Antibodies among Hospitalized Patients Predict Mortality and Readmission: A Real-World 10-Years Cohort Study

Listen to this summary

This study aimed to determine the prognostic significance of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) in hospitalized patients without antiphospholipid syndrome. The findings revealed that aPL positivity was independently associated with increased long-term mortality and higher rates of readmission, particularly linked to specific antibody isotypes such as lupus anticoagulant and anti-cardiolipin IgG. This suggests that aPL positivity may identify a high-risk subgroup among hospitalized patients.
