Does History of Reduction Mammoplasty Predispose to Lactation Complications? A Multicenter Retrospective Cohort

The authors aimed to determine whether a history of reduction mammoplasty increases the risk of breastfeeding complications compared to women without prior aesthetic breast surgery. Their retrospective study found that while reduction mammoplasty did not significantly raise the risk of lactation disorders or breast infections, it was associated with higher rates of antibiotic prescriptions and emergency department visits within the year following delivery. These results suggest that reduction mammoplasty may not lead to major adverse lactation outcomes.
