Association of Slope-Reducing Osteotomy With Return to Preinjury Level of Sport After Failed Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction in Elite Athletes

Listen to this summary

The authors aimed to determine whether combining slope-reducing osteotomy (SRO) with revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) could facilitate a return to preinjury levels of sport in elite athletes with increased posterior tibial slope (PTS). The study found that all 19 included athletes successfully returned to competition within an average of 12.1 months, demonstrating significant improvements in clinical and functional outcomes without major complications. These findings suggest that this combined surgical approach is both safe and effective for this patient population.
