Outcomes and Return-to-Sport Rates of Competitive Athletes Treated for Femoroacetabular Impingement Syndrome With Contemporary Hip Arthroscopy Techniques: A Matched Comparison to Early Techniques

The authors aimed to compare patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and return-to-sport (RTS) rates between athletes treated for femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) using contemporary hip arthroscopy techniques versus early techniques. The study found that athletes in the contemporary cohort experienced significantly greater improvements in PROs and a higher RTS rate (97.6% vs. 81.0%) compared to those treated with early techniques. Overall, contemporary techniques yielded better clinical outcomes for athletes undergoing hip arthroscopy for FAIS and labral tears.
