Integra versus NovoSorb BTM for periocular reconstruction following Mohs micrographic surgery: Outcomes and an updated reconstructive algorithm

The authors aimed to compare the outcomes of Integra® Dermal Regeneration Template and NovoSorb® Biodegradable Temporizing Matrix (BTM) for periocular reconstruction following Mohs micrographic surgery. Their retrospective analysis of 128 patients revealed that BTM was associated with significantly lower rates of complications, particularly ectropion, additional surgeries, and revision surgeries compared to Integra. However, due to baseline imbalances and short follow-up, the authors suggest that these findings are preliminary and further prospective studies are needed to establish definitive recommendations for matrix selection.
